What’s On in October 2018 at South Ham Library?
By the time you read this our amazing summer will be a distant memory and we will be well into autumn. So why not pop down to the library to get some lovely new recipes to take you through the colder months. Maybe you have been inspired by Bake Off or you want to enjoy soups and casseroles as the days get cooler. Some of you may be already thinking about Christmas so we have some craft ideas for presents or decorations for your homes.
It is Craft Club on Saturday 6th August, drop in between 10-12 noon for our Autumn Leaf Animal Craft and there will be an extra crafts with a Halloween theme on the Wednesday 24th October 10-3pm. During half term we will also have a themed Treasure Hunt, come and join in the fun.
Story time in October continues to be held at 10:30 am on TUESDAYS. Come and join us for stories and themed colouring.
The Construction Club continues during term time on Tuesdays, with the opportunity to play with Lego and Duplo from 3:30pm-4:45pm.
This term’s CODE CLUB has started again which will give children aged 9-11 the opportunity to learn the coding language Scratch. The projects are easy to follow step-by-step guides which help children learn, by making games and animations. The projects gradually introduce coding concepts to allow children to build their knowledge incrementally over a 10 week course. Rhymetime continues every Friday with fun rhymes and songs at 11am for babies and toddlers
Activities for adults this month include the Genesis Sci-Fi Reading Group on the 13th October from 10:00am-12:00 noon.
Do you know anyone over 50 who would like help understanding their Tablet, Laptop or computer? Then they may like some friendly one to one tuition from our Age Concern tutors. They run 45 minute sessions every Tuesday between 10am and 1pm here at South Ham Library for a minimum donation of £5. If you know someone who may benefit from this then give Age Concern a call on 01256 423874.
Don’t forget we have 4 computers giving access to the internet and Microsoft office software, a scanner and colour printer and photocopier. The computers are free to use but there are charges for printing. We also have FREE access online to Ancestry, Find my Past, Which? Magazine Online and the British Newspaper Archive Online. Ask a member of staff for help getting started.
Also by joining the library you can access hundreds of ebooks, audiobooks on your smartphone, tablet or home computer through our Libby App Newspapers through PressReader and magazines through Zinio.
