What’s On in July 2017 at South Ham Library?
By the time you read this summer will be here, exams will be over and we can look forward to the school holidays and all that brings. In Hampshire library service it brings one of our busiest times of the year with the Summer Reading Challenge promoted by the reading Agency. This year children from 4-11 will be encouraged to be Animal Agents from 15th July to 16th September hunting down the clues to a mystery that has happened in the local library. To do this they will need to read 6 books during the school holiday and they will be rewarded with Stickers, a certificate and medal. Staff from the local libraries will be visiting all the local schools with more information so look out for an invitation in your children’s school bag. We would love volunteers to help us with this so please contact the library if you would like to help.
It is Craft Club on Saturday 1St July, drop in between 10am- Noon for our Bernice Bear Craft -one of the characters from Animal Agents there is also an extra Holiday craft on the 22nd and 26th July to make Slip or Slide the Animal Agents Snake Twins . The projects are easy to follow step-by-step guides which help children learn, by making games and animations. The projects gradually introduce coding concepts initially using the programming language Scratch to allow children to build their knowledge incrementally over a 10 week course.
