The Local Plan
The Local Plan will be discussed at a series of meetings of the Council’s Economic, Planning and Housing Committee during March. As the Government Inspector has asked the Council to come up with extra housing numbers, any new sites currently not in the plan will come forward for discussion. There will be opportunity for local residents to come along to the meeting to give their views on the suitability of sites. If you want to attend keep an eye on the Borough website for more details nearer the time or contact me directly.
There was a public consultation last week on the potential new Criticial treatment hospital. The site is just off junction 7 of the M3 close to where the A30 splits into two. The hospital would provide critical care for anyone with emergency ie bluelight ambulance admission needs from the Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover area. It would be one of only two such facilities in the country. It would not replace the walk in A&E which would remain in place at the main hospital. Following the consultation the next step would be for plans to be submitted to the Council.
Cllr Terri Reid
Mary Edwards, Chief Executive at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust says:
“Thank you to everyone who came along to our planning application exhibition. It’s really important to us that we hear the views of local people, and we will consider the feedback in our planning application that we hope to submit in the spring.
We were pleased that people attended the exhibition to find out more about our plans. We hope that the exhibition addressed people’s questions and we appreciate the support we received. The information is on our website (www.hampshirehospitals.nhs.uk) until 20 February for those who couldn’t attend and any questions or feedback can be submitted via future@hhft.nhs.uk.
We appreciate that our planning application is only one step to understanding if this site is a viable option in preparation for a formal public consultation, which would be led by the NHS clinical commissioning groups.”
