St. Mark’s Primary School – ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’
St. Mark’s CE Primary School have again been enjoying music, dance and drama as the Year 3&4 children put on their spectacular annual Easter production.
This year, around 180 children took part in ‘THE BEST IS YET TO COME’, co-written by a member of staff at the school, Mr Mark Halls.
‘THE BEST IS YET TO COME’ takes you on a journey which witnesses happiness, sadness, forgiveness and the greatest love of all… the love of God, demonstrated through the death his Son, Jesus.
The Easter story is told from the viewpoint of various characters who met Jesus during his time on earth: His mother Mary, Shepherds & Roman Guards. These characters reflect upon their memories of the events in Jesus’ life, leading up to His crucifixion on the cross.
After intense rehearsals during such a short half term, the children delivered three outstanding performances. The singing was full of energy and smiles and the audience’s spirits could not fail to be lifted. At the moment of Jesus’ crucifixion, twelve children performed a remarkable and thought provoking dance using white and red flags, whilst images from paintings, sculptures and films depicting the crucifixion were shown. This gave the audience an opportunity to reflect upon the true meaning of Easter.
Three soloists captured the sentimental mood beautifully and even moved some of the audience to tears. Other highlights of the production were the memories of the characters which included cheer leading angels, a charismatic Gabriel, sock washing shepherds. The stage crew’s management of the props and music made the production flow seamlessly.
The Year 3&4 staff wish to congratulate the children and other members of staff involved in creating such a memorable performance.
