Scouts
Hatch Warren Scout Group meets at the Community Centre on Long Cross Lane. There is 1 Beaver Colony, 1 Cub Pack and a Scout Troop and they also have a waiting list of 130 children, 60 of which are under the age of Scouting with the rest we could open 2 more Beaver Colonies, 1 Cub Pack and another Scout Troop. So “Why! Don’t we do it? “The simple reason is finding a venue and leaders to run the meetings. Beggarwood is due to open a new community centre in Sept 2016 and we would love to open a new group there, but we need new adult leaders to run it. If you think you would love the opportunity to run a new section and enjoy the activities that Scouting offers both young people and adults, get in touch via www.basingstokewestscouts.org.uk, where there is also a video of “A Year at Hatch Warren Scout Group”. Interesting enough only 6 out of the 12 uniformed leaders, who run Hatch Warren Scout Group, live in the local community. I also include an article about one of our Hatch Warren Beaver Leaders who has achieved his Gold D of E.
Jamie goes for Gold
On the 23rd Nov, the County Commissioner, Adam Jollis, came to Hatch Beavers to present Jamie with his Gold D of E. Adam asked some probing questions so the Beavers could understand what Jamie had done. To add a little more fun to the presentation Adam produced his parrot. So with a squawk and a hand shake Jamie received his badge. WELL DONE Jamie on all your hard work and you will have to tell us what is was like at the palace.
