New Mayor appointed for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year
I feel very privileged to have been elected, following a Mayor Making ceremony at the Civic Offices on Thursday 12 May, as the 71st Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane during the reign of Her Majesty The Queen in her Platinum Jubilee year and as the 44th Mayor since the establishment of our borough. As first citizen I am here to dedicate my term in office to the residents of this borough.
Having served as a councillor in the Chineham ward since 2009, I shall represent the borough at events during the landmark jubilee year supported my wife and Mayoress, Sandra. The focus for the mayoral year will be on bringing the community together to support each other as the borough emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic and the country faces an economic crisis.

Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2022/23
During the year I shall be supporting two local good causes – Tough Enough To Care and The Pink Place.
As a veteran of the armed forces, I have a particular interest in the welfare and mental health of the military community and has chosen to support Tough Enough To Care, a local mental health charity that focuses on male dominated environments such as the military, construction trades and sports clubs aiming to remove the stigma that surrounds the subject of mental health.
I became aware of The Pink Place, incorporating The Blue Space for men, when assisting it to gain charity status. The charity provides free wellbeing services, complementary therapies, counselling, mindfulness sessions and support to adults affected by cancer, living in Basingstoke and the surrounding area, from initial diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.
