LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT?
Singing is one of the oldest enjoyments known, going back at least 4,000 years.
The Basingstoke Male Voice Choir hasn’t been around quite that long! Founded in 1964 it has performed at hundreds of venues, toured overseas, and raised many thousands of pounds for charities. We sing in accompanied four-part harmony, and perform a range of music – traditional, musical theatre, modern and even pop.
Now we want to reach out to you – the Pandemic has depleted our numbers and we need new singers.
Have you thought you would like to sing with others? Well, if you would like to, we will shortly be having an “open” evening on May 24th for you to come and hear us. This will be at our rehearsal hall, St Michael’s Church Cottage, (St Michael’s Church, Church Cottage, Church Square, Basingstoke, RG21 7QW) at 7:30 PM.
We’ll be putting on a mini-performance, absolutely free, so you can see what we do and how much pleasure we get from it. There will be opportunities for you to ask questions and talk to choristers to better understand the world of male voice singing.
Let us know if getting there or finding us is a problem for the “open evening.” We will try to arrange transport with one of our members for you. For those of you who may be apprehensive about your ability to sing in harmony, the Choir will hold free, basic singing and music lessons for new members with our Musical Director.
Coming along to our “open evening” places no commitment on you whatsoever. Of course, we do hope you will like what you hear and decide to join us! The evening should last about an hour.
