Local Politicians Support Second Soup Lunch
The second “Soupathon” at the Café in the Park at Beggarwood Community Centre held on Wednesday 4 April was supported at all levels of democracy in the presence of Maria Miller MP, Stephen Reid Hants County Councillor and Dan Putty Borough Councillor for Hatch Warren and Beggarwood. In the kitchen providing a helping hand with other volunteers was Terri Reid Borough Councillor for Hatch Warren and Beggarwood.
Despite it being a wet day there was increased customer levels and the kitchen ran out of soup by 1.30 pm. Organiser Jenny Crawford, was delighted with the turnout.
“It was really pleasing to see so many customers so I hope this increasing interest in this monthly “Soupathon” will go from strength to strength. At only £3 for coffee or tea and a choice of three soups, bread, butter and cheddar cheese and then fresh fruit is especially good value.”
The next Soup Lunch will be on Wednesday 2 May from 12.30pm until 2.00pm with the promise of greater supplies to meet the expected further increase in demand and will again be supported by Sainsbury’s supermarket.
