Hatch Warren WI Celebrates 20 Years
with a Pyjama Party and Midnight Feast (at 8 o’clock)
Birthday Meeting provides an opportunity to showcase the best of everything. Hatch Warren WI has recently celebrated its 20th Birthday. Having always publicised itself as a young WI, this inevitably leads to the realisation that a milestone has been reached. A different approach may be required? Actually, with many traditional WIs now approaching centenary celebrations, 20 years is still young within the WI, and the ladies may like to keep it that way.
With the Resolutions and Annual Meeting held earlier in May, members enjoyed the light hearted celebrations at the end of the month. The theme of Pyjama Party and Midnight Feast (at 8 o’clock) was chosen, as a change from dressing up for previous parties. It may have been thought that dressing down would be an easier option, but that was before the Pyjama Party Planners had properly planned the party!
Unsurprisingly the invitation dress code was “Pyjamas, nighties, dressing gowns etc optional!” Most conformed, but several guests (especially those with further to travel) decided to change once they’d reached their destination. Embarrassing stories were exchanged about motorway breakdowns and lessons learned from attending previous pyjama parties in earlier years. Members and guests were also invited to bring their teddies to enter a Competition for Best Bear.
Much fun was had in preparing as well as hosting the party, the highlight of which was a Pyjama Party Catwalk Parade, with “themed models” and amusing commentary. It has been said that laughter is the best therapy, and hopefully this will keep the WI ladies on form for years to come. In case that is not enough, July’s meeting should provide extra help.
4th July – This meeting will be a Beauty and Pamper Evening
