Hatch Warren Tigers Netball Club
In May 2021, a new local sports club, the Hatch Warren Tigers Junior Netball Club was formed! We have two squads of players – the under 13s and under 16s. Currently, we have 104 members across the club, including the Sabers, Wildcats and Cubs teams who have already played in fixtures in the Basingstoke Division 3 league. We train every week at Brighton Hill Community School in our distinctive bright orange kit!
Our main coach and founder is Carla Paterson who is accompanied by Simone, Grace, Becky, Elisha, Shannon and Amanda. We also have a young leader programme running for girls over 14 who aspire to become coaches. It is a chance for them to give it a go and learn the required skills. The club is also supporting members who wish to learn how to be an umpire.
We have all improved so much from when we started thanks to weekly training and holiday camps. The training includes not only defending and attacking, but also teamwork and communication skills, which are vital to becoming good netballers.
Some of our members have told us….
MS: ‘It’s really fun and you get to improve on your netball skills.”
BH: ‘It is fun, and I feel like I learn a lot from being there, about netball.’
AW: ‘My experience at HWT has been great! The coaches are lovely and dedicated to ensure we all do our best.’
EE: ‘HWT is a great group to be a part of. Each week I look forward to Thursdays. It’s fab.
FM: ‘I love it! It’s taught me some good netball skills and I’ve made some great friends.’
The club has also received very positive feedback from parents and opposing teams.
