Hatch Warren & Beggarwood Cycling Club
Over a couple of pints in the Portsmouth Arms one night in August, a small group of like minded individuals got together and talked about creating a community cycling club. As a result, we’re able to bring you HWB Cycling Club.
HWB Cyclists launches on Sunday September 13th at 2pm, for a 20mile ‘taster’ cycle. We intend to vary our rides in future, with rides alternating each week between a Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. There will be a weekly shorter 20 mile ride for those starting out, or wanting a more comfortable pace, and on alternate weeks (the Saturday morning) an additional longer 40 mile ride for accomplished cyclists seeking a brisk pace. The first Saturday with both the shorter and longer cycle rides is on 19th September.
Initially we will meet in the car park at St Mark’s School and Immanuel Church will provide post-cycle refreshments.
The aim of the HWB Cycling Club is to offer regular rides for like minded people in and around Basingstoke. All we ask is that you have a road-worthy bicycle, carry a spare inner tube, a pump and bring a drink and small snack with you. You will not be able to ride without a helmet. To begin with two rides will be on offer (20 miles and 40 miles) but in the longer term we hope to be able to offer family rides as well as rides to suit all abilities and ages. At the moment, we can only offer rides for the over 18s.
