“Beating Bowel Cancer”
A Hatch Warren resident is putting on his running shoes to raise £2,000 for a leading cancer charity by taking part in his first ever marathon.
Gary Williams is running the London Marathon 2013 on April 21 in aid of Beating Bowel Cancer and in memory of his mother in law, Ellen Sinfield, who died from the illness in 2009.
The 47-year-old said: ‘The chance to run in the 2013 London Marathon gives me and my family the opportunity to remember Ellen, and to help, albeit in a very small way, Beating Bowel Cancer, in its efforts to provide vital support to those affected by cancer.
I know that if Ellen was alive today she would be fully behind what I am trying to do and encouraging me to keep up with the training, come rain or shine. The money I will raise will enable the charity to make a real difference to the lives of those who are afflicted by cancer both now and in the future.’
