CODE CLUB continues on Wednesdays 3:45 to 4:45pm, which is giving children aged 9-11 the opportunity to learn to code, no matter who they are or where they come from. The projects are easy to follow step-by-step guides which help children learn, by making games and animations. The projects gradually introduce coding concepts initially using the programming language Scratch to allow children to build their knowledge incrementally over a 10 week course. Please contact the library on 01256 336047 or email south.ham.library@hants.gov.uk if you are interested in joining our waiting list for our next course.

CAN YOU HELP US?
We are already thinking ahead to the summer when we run our Summer Reading Challenge 2017 supported by the Reading Agency. This year the theme is Animal Agents, with illustrations by Tony Ross. Children read 6 books over the summer, between 15th July and 17th September, and collect stickers and a medal if they complete the challenge. We had a record number completing the challenge at South Ham Library last year. To help us with this we rely on volunteers who are happy to give up a couple of hours a week when available to chat to the children about the books they have read and record them on our database. If you would be interested in volunteering in the library please contact us on south.ham.library@hants.gov.uk or pop into the library for a chat. Volunteering looks great on job and college/university applications or could be used towards award schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. It can also be a very rewarding and sociable way to spend a couple of hours a week.
